AAIS is the Australasian chapter of the Association for Information Systems (AIS), a global network of IS communities. AAIS seeks to promote and extend the support provided by a number of other organisations already active in the region. This page contains links to many of those organisations and to services and events that would be of interest to the Australasian IS community. By joining AIS you should automatically become a member of AAIS if you live in the Australasian area. Read more about AAIS and about joining (via AIS).
AAIS relies on and is grateful for the financial support of institutional sponsors.
Making this Site more Interactive
We are experimenting with
Wiki and possibly discussion groups to allow members to contribute to the site.
Members are now encouraged to add items to the CONFERENCES and USEFUL LINKS
pages.
For the next step we would
like you to contribute teaching ideas, experiences and hints. These could
be pages on your own site to which we can link from the teaching page.
Please contact Jim
Underwood if you have any suitable material.
-- well, it's not working so far; maybe no one thinks anyone else reads it, or maybe the Wiki is too hard to use (It isn't, just click edit and follow the format of the entries already there).
-- someone has just added some useful government links - thanks!
A discussion forum will be available soon - hope that has more participation.
More Conferences
I have added a few more conferences - some have deadlines in the next few weeks, some around June or July (even though they are in mid 2010). Time to think ahead!
There is also now a "Journals" item in the top menu, with some calls for journal articles.
AIS international has upgraded it's website (click on the AIS logo in our top left corner). Members are now receiving the "Insider" newsletter - the latest issue is here.
The latest version of the the ERA Indicators (Excellence in Research in Australia) are available here. If you have any comments that you wish transmitted to the ARC, email our President, Deborah Bunker.
More Conference Proceedings Online
Previous conference proceedings are now available from the AIS Electronic Library from 2001 to 2007. Full text is available to AIS members and to members of IS departments who are AAIS sponsors. You can also find proceedings for AMCIS, BLED, ICIS, CONF-IRM, IRWITPM, MWAIS, PACIS.
Other proceedings are available free - ECIS from LSE, and SJIS from IRIS.
Annual General Meeting
The AAIS AGM was held during ACIS at Christchurch; the new committe members are listed below. Reports submitted to the AGM can be read on the news page.
ACIS was, as usual, a highly successful conference; congatulations to all the organisers.
Rankings of Journals and Conferences
The ARC now seems to have taken over the ranking of journals (and possibly conferences) for use in futre research evaluation processes. AAIS has been working hard on this in collaboration with ACPHIS. (see research page).
AJIS goes Online
The Australasian Journal of Information Systems (AJIS) is now published electronically and is available online through the ACS Digital Library at http://dl.acs.org.au/index.php/ajis.
